"Dang, I'm getting Old"
I was actually in Florida over the weekend attending my nieces debutant/18 yr birthday party.
Felt like an old man watching these teenagers doing crazy things on the dance floor to hip-hop music.
I know If I would take them out on the trails for a long run, I think most of them would pass out.
But me trying to do this dance step called a "SUPERMAN" I really thought I would hurt myself trying to dance like that, so I just sat in my seat feeling like an old man.
At least I could dance with my daughter and keep up with her moves. It was the 1st time I got to dance with her at a party. Made me think about alot of things and how she is growing up so fast, but I think I still have a few more years left until she totally ditches me during a party to hangout with her cooler teenage friends. So these moments I will cherish.
On the running end, time is flying by, 14 weeks left until the 100 mile big show. Hopefully get some long trail runs in this weekend. No Ultra races around the area until February, Boohoo ~ it does make running for a long time so much easier.
Then finally the x-mas lights and x-mas tree have been put away and the holiday distractions are behind me now. But the holiday eating is a hard habit to break, to many leftover cookies and deserts lying around the house these days to pile up the calories.
I also do wonder of late, what was I thinking, trying to get ready within 16 weeks for this 24+ hour race? But what the hell, I'm entered so I plan to be at the starting line that day.

Let the "stepping" begin, then again I think that is a dance move as well?

I completely know where you are coming from. It seems like it was just the other day and my two boys were little and LOVED being around me. Now they are 14 and 17 and I realize that those days are gone. Sad but it is what life is all about. My 17 year old will be going into the service in July. Now that is another huge step that I am trying to prepare for.
BTW - I do know how the do the "Superman" moves. I like to think that I still have a lot of youth in me. had tons of fun learning it.
You will be ready and will do great, I am SURE of it.
They sure grow up super fast. Anymore, I'm afraid to blink, for fear of missing something.
Keep at it, I'm sure you'll have great stories to tell of the amazing feat you just accomplished at the end of your 100miler. :)
You sat out Soulja Boy?! I've gotta get those dance moves down since my daughter swears she's including it at her wedding reception (whenever that time comes.)
OK I MUST be old because I have no idea what the heck the "superman" is? LMAO!
But I DO know what you mean by cherishing the time you have now before you officially become "uncool". With the rate I'm going I'll officially be ditched when the oldest turns 5 LOL
Woof. 100. Still kinda wrapping my mind around that one.
You will "step up to the plate" with style, no doubt, Bubba.
Dancing with my Dad were very special moments in my life. Trust me, she'll never pass up the chance of dancing with you.
Your race will be here before you know it---and I have no doubt you'll be ready!!
And, hey, enjoy the cookies---life is short!!
Up here in the pacific northwest it is difficult to decide when to take a break from the marathons, or 50k's on the schedule. There is literally 80-90 percent of the weekends when there is an event held within reasonable driving distance. It makes training a bit easier. Those weeks will go by fast.
I literally laughed out loud on that part about the Superman! :)
Best of luck on your training and I do hope to join your group on trail one of these days (maybe after a little practice, so I can keep up with whomever the slowest person is).
hey bubba...
in keeping with your chinese saying....you have already run, the length of the great wall of chine...those young-ins couldn't possible equal you.
superman???no way
great suggestion on the starbucks trek for my 55..thanks....
i'm sure by then, i will have slipped back into the coffee habit..
have a good one
You can at least mark the dancing down as a workout.
