A Little More Inspiration = More Perspiration

After moping around the previous week, I found something to give me a little more inspiration for the week. Everybody has something: a song, movie, and even a little object to get them out the door.

For me it was this little object I had put away for safe keeping. I had bought this item at the IMooo expo. It was gift for my 4 yr old daughter, I thought she could think of me when she wears it (a fathers wish anyway).

So after giving it to her, she said the usual,

"It's nice, I want to wear it".

So after 20 minutes,

"Daddy I want to take this off".

Well I guess it lasted longer than I thought it would.

So after wearing it awhile I put it away. So one day I decided to put it on again. Putting it on again has somehow, in its little way, helped me pick up my feet again and get me out the door a little more each day.

So this week has been a good one, nothing fancy, just trying to tell my body to wake up after its slumber:

Treadmill running 3x's
Weights/Core 3x's
Bike trainer 1x's
Swimming 2x's

Mountain biking 0x's (icy conditions)
Trail running 1x's
Falling on my ass while Trail Running 2x's
Tylenol after getting home 2x's

Thanks for everybody's advice from my last post. It is the time just to get out there again, no structured training plan and trying to stay in zone 2 during training. So that is my plan until January 01 2007.

Still undecided about a coach thou. I know I need to break-up my 2007 season into a UltraRunning and IronMan training program. There becomes the problem concerning a coach, trying to find one with experience in both is quite a dilemma for me.

But I'm committed in pushing myself (endurance wise) for '07 and complete a 50 miler UltraMarathon and IronMan race.

So at least for me, I know it has been done before and that is all I need to know. Hopefully along the way get a little faster and PR some races.

Now if I can just stay away from those tasty pastries.

It's too bad you aren't in Cleveland one of the really good tri coaches here just did teh Mohican 100, I am sure she would qualify for what you need in a coach!

I think you can probably get away with no coach for the ultra stuff. I really felt like the most important runs were the long ones (26+) Get in as many of those will fit in your schedule, I think I had 3 plus a 20 miler, and you will be good to go. I think most of the ultra is mental and nutrition. If you love running you will want to be out there all day to get it done (at least for your first 50!)!

Hi, your blog popped up in Google ultra alert with a question on a combo of ultra and tri coach. Try Lisa Smith-Batchen, she is an accomplished athlete in both and coaches both at high level.

Good luck!

Yay! Glad to hear you're back at it - keep that trinket handy; we may need to pass it around. :)

I'm undecided re: coach too. Maybe we just both know that we know what's best for ourselves (OK, you might have to re-read that one.) I think your goals for next year are too cool for words... ultra...ironman. Wow.

Well, it's not a bad thing to not be motivated this time of year. We all need time off.

Curious about this ultra thing...it's something I've sorta been kicking around. What are you thinking??

we all need some kind of mojo to get out and train. some need it to start, others to finish and push thru. keep up your training.

It's hard to train when it's cold and dark. Try not to be so hard on yourself. I think going out and just working out and having fun with it is a good approach. That's why it's the OFF season!

Oh, and for what it counts, my vote is no coach! But that's b/c I'm stubborn and bull-headed and want to do it on my own so I'm not training with a coach right now (although I have a great club).
