"13"
13 weeks until my 100 miler and counting..
Not sure my countdown has been particular lucky so far.
It's been up and down training for the past 3weeks. I have been only to squeak out 52, 40, and 49 miles the past weeks. Not close where I want to be right now. This Chronic ankle'itis is starting to really put a downer in my training and interfering with my so called "happy ultra place."
Since I'm self diagnosing myself I probably sprained my ankle previously and has trudged through it by taking days off and running again. I think leading to"Chronic Ankle Instability."
Am I worried? Hard to say, more pissed than anything else that my body is not giving me a healthy week so far. But trying to keep a "can do" attitude.
"Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow; it only robs today of its strength." ~ A.J. Cronin
They saw it is 90% mental right?
But YES I know, R.I.C.E. and listen to you body. So I will in my own way this week and cross train for the rest of the week by doing some non-impact activities like cycling and swimming. Then hopefully off to the trails once again this weekend.
It's going to be cold one thou this weekend:
Saturday ~Windy. Partly sunny. Very cold. Highs 6 to 10 above.
Sunday ~ Partly cloudy. Highs 15 to 19.
Ohh weee, actually a warm up on Sunday. But at least I will have have one or two Triathlon club homies to keep me company in the frozen tundra.

I know it doesn't feel like it but 13 weeks is a long way off, take the time to make sure that ankle is good to go and then start banking mileage. Oh, and I am starting to take my own health advice so no comebacks ;-)
Bummer on the ankle. Hopefully that baby will start listening to your commands ;-)
I always love it when the high for the day doesn't even crack 20 degrees LOL
be nice to that ankle bubba...
we are headed to some frigid temps in next 5 days...
I actually enjoy when it gets real cold so that when I return from a run, I warm up with the cup of tea and enjoy the book by the radiator as it heats me..
This report comes one week after you reported that you were getting old. Come on!! Just kidding.
My running friend FINALLY got an xray of her foot after running months on it screaming pain to her. It was confirmed.. the ankle HAD been broken but she was already well into the healing process by the time she found this out.
Be smart and see a doctor. 100 miles is a long freaking way!!!
Brrrrr. You have a cold weekend coming up. Personally, I'm *so done with* days when it doesn't get above freezing.
13 weeks isn't a *long* time but it is a quarter of a year. You can make this happen!!
Best wishes for the ankle to cooperate.
Rest up dear friend. Listen to that ankle. Take care of it now and it will take care of you in April. You're going to rock that trail in April. :)
Good luck getting to your "happy ultra place."
Hey, it's colder here. I'm going 12 today with 2 below temp and 20 below wind chill. Gross.
Now, see, if it was me and I had a chronic ankle injury and heard what the weather was going to be I'd hit the treadmill if I really, really had to run or take the weekend off while there was still time to heal. Running is mostly mental, but that 10% can be more powerful that you think!
I hope your ankle heals soon, so you can get back on track with your training. Wow 100 miles...I can't even imagine...you are amazing!
Yes, listen to your body. I find that I DO know my body better than anyone else. We athletes get pretty good at reading ourselves.
