Back to What I know?
Knock, Knock?
Who's there?
Yes, it's me, BUBBA is still in blog land. Life has been busy, with work, and most importantly with house duties around the house that has kept me from blog world for a week or two.
I have been getting a kick seeing my daughter running her own races and youth runs the past two weeks.
But have been feeling not myself lately not having a long-ass race to do each month.
But I think I have done it this time. Unprepared mentally and physically, I going to try to do this.
THE "MOHICAN 100 Mile Trail Run"
Honestly I have put up the white flag of sorts as a backup plan. Eventhou I signed up for the "Big Show", the 100 miler, I could drop down to the 50 miler and get credit and get a little "bling bling" if I just finish that much. But if I go one foot past 50 miles, I going for the 100 miler for sure.
So why do it? Mostly because I believe in "opportunities", you have to take the plunge sometimes and hope for the best.
So in less than 10 days, YES 10 days people, I'm going to try to run an Ultra in the middle of the summer for the 1st time.
Mosquito's, poison Ivy, my own allergies, and all those other warm blooded creatures that go bump in the night. Sometimes I wonder why I just sign up for things.
But I had to post this cartoon and quote from Rachel's blog. I guess this explains why most of all I have the urge to run for that long again.
And my 100 Mile race plan goes like this:
"If you can't run, then walk. And if you can't walk, then crawl. Do what you have to do. Just keep moving forward and never, ever give up."--Dean Karnazes Ultramarathon Man
Sound simple enough, RIGHT?

One way or another you will find a way. I'm rooting for you :)
Wow - good luck with the mid-summer Ultra! Dean's got a good quote there!!
bubba...this is so freaking wild..
I was reading ultra marathon man today (for the third time) and came again across the quote..(actually his dad said it to him at western states...) anyway..its a helluva quote and you got it in you to do mohican and rock it..you have already done a 100 miler..
you rock bubba....
You are the shiz, homie!! YOu know I'm rooting for ya! ;D ;D
Isn't it awesome watching the chicklets run. Sometimes I think it's better than me racing ;-)
Hey!!! I totally want to try and come cheer you on!!! Is it next weekend? I'm heading to Cincinnati the 21st for my cousin's wedding but maybe somehow I can stop on I-71 and find you?!?! Drop me an email! :)
Whoa. Good luck. I actually think you'll do pretty well, since you probably haven't lost too much base fitness since the race. You should be able to go back to that well again.
Best wishes. Have fun with it.
Riding about 70 miles seemed long on my bike last Saturda. 100 miles is longer. And to do it on foot...well, that's nothing short of crazy.
6 days buddy!!!! We'll see ya out there. You'll do awesome at your 2nd 100 miler. I just hope I can finish, let alone keep up with you.
Brian
Best of luck to you as you mentally prep. You can do this! Knock it out!
Ha, I love this line: "and all those other warm blooded creatures that go bump in the night." And good luck on the trails, Bubba. You. Can. Do. It!!
Maybe a 100-miler is what you need to maintain some focus, though your daughter does seem to enjoy the much shorter distances. Or is she already in training to help pace her dad?!
