Seriously, this stuff HURTS?
My finisher plaque says "I Endured The Great Illini (2.4 swim, 112 bike, 26.2 run)"
Boy, was it ever!!! I tested every ounce of my endurance and sheer willingness to just keep going forward.
I was under trained mentally and physically for the race. I knew it, but wanted to give it a shot and see what happened.
But I did have some race goals, I thought I could go under 13 hours, I guess my mind was thinking one thing but my body decided something else.
I had some mechanical bike issues, cramping issues, and at the end felt like hurling all the espresso gels I consumed during the run.
But I finished in 13:39:56..
6 people in age division, 6Th place, woohooo, tough crowd, I guess. No matter..
I didn't hear "Bubba your an Iron Man" when I crossed the finish line.
But feel like a DAM sore one. So I'll take it.
Race report coming soon, but for now I need some rest both physically and mentally. While trying to get ready for a 50k Ultra in 3 weeks.

Way to get it done.
Rest wisely, you've got a 50K sneaking up on you!
Way cool!
That race seems to me to be more in the spirit of the original ironman
That's an awefully good time for not being prepared mentally or physically! :) Way to go. Rest up - you deserve it.
DUUUUDDEEEE!! That's freekin awesome! You totally ROCK!! Now hurry up and rest . . eat some cheese danish or something ;-) I'm going to be for the challenge pretty soon. After Mr Q's Weight Loss Challenge is over HAHAHAH
Well done bro - YOU are an...Illiniman? YOU are...GREAT? Whichever - helluva job out there doing your thing, just another ripple in the pond while you prepare for your 50k. Crazy, dude. Congrats!
Undertrained? And you did an IM-distance race in 13.5 hrs? And you have an ultra in 3 weeks. No sweat! You're a SuperStar!
way to gut it out and post a very good time... you are being hard on yourself...
yep..those non m-dot irons don't really have the huge lovefests do they??

You are freaking insane!!! And to top it of you have an Ultra event in 3 weeks.
i want some of what you are having.
Looking forward to the race report. Cheers on the finish!!!
I hear you, bro .. jumping back and forth between these sports is a killer. Congrats on hanging tough and getting the IM done.
Dude, 6th out of 6 with a 13:39!? That was a tough crowd.
I'm looking forward to reading the race report.
Congrats Dennis....and doing a 13:39 being "under trained" is pretty impressive. I trained for 9 months and did 13:33 at IMWI yesterday....guess I've got some work to do to catch up to you!!
Nice job!!! And I agree with Sweet Baboo: 6 out of 6 with that time is TOUGH!!!
